Students/Troupes/Abandonment Issues

I kinda felt the same way after my level 3 class.

You never know, maybe some day you will play with those people you really enjoyed being around and who you felt that connection to.
Right now I am in a troupe with 3 other people I met in my level one class and another I met in my level 3 class. With the exception of one person, that one class was the last time I saw them. A year later, we reconnected and we began Shades of Brown. Now we've been performing together for over a year.

I would have never thought I would have seen some of them ever again. You just never know...

I never saw this thread Terry! I am right there with you. This always breaks my heart. Low student retention rates. Especially when you can see the super star improviser right under the skin.

Fear of performing for strangers.
Fear of performing without fellow classmates.
Fear of success.
Self loathing for not immediately being a super star.
Self loathing for making mistakes.


Next to that, work & family obligations are high on the list for reasons people don't stick around. Folks can push through it & inspire each other though! Encourage your class mates to come see improv shows with you throughout the week! Encourage them to come perform in jams! Help them to build momentum as improvisers.
