Jill! I reccommend you read "Don't Think About an Elephant." It answers exactly that question. It also goes on to talk about why the political right has used the answer to that question to their advantage and what the political left can do in response. So it's definitely got an agenda, but it also helped me to understand why people I disagree with think the way they do. And why all these seemingly disparate groups work together.

(spoiler: the answer is "framing")

Thank you, Valerie. I am also thinking about where is the place where Valerie makes jewelry. Is it a little sweatshop with other ladies making jewelry? Is it at home on a little workbench? Is it a laboratory setting, with mice in cages, also making jewelry, but tiny?

Now I'm thinking how funny it would be to see Valerie getting hammered by Mike Wallace on a hard-hitting segment of 60 Minutes for having such a brutal and tiny sweatshop.

The idea of how you can acquire a taste for something if you have it often enough and is that why some godawful songs become popular.

how come sometimes all of the lights are turning green when you are approaching them and other times they are all turning red. Fate? Coincidence? or maybe someone has a chart I can borrow?

Apparently, the latest trend is to ask all your friends to fund it.

I'm thinking I'd like to go home now and forget about all these Johnny-come-lately letter writing requests.

KTHXBAI.
