Jill! I reccommend you read "Don't Think About an Elephant." It answers exactly that question. It also goes on to talk about why the political right has used the answer to that question to their advantage and what the political left can do in response. So it's definitely got an agenda, but it also helped me to understand why people I disagree with think the way they do.
