ChrisTrew.Com wrote:A friend of mine in Chicago (Mikah! Anyone know him?) recently wrapped up production on "Why Improv?" which was a documentary with improvisers.
I need to get a copy of it from him.
i know Mikah PHilbrook. that dude is super cool and one heck of an underrated chicago improviser. is he done with all the post production on it?

Always innovating up there.
I've been fantasizing about doing a 1 man Harold with a fake person. Oh, you'll see what I mean.

Hey, just wanted to drop in and tell Chris thanks for the plug.
I'm a contestant on the show, and it is definitely weird but cool at the same time. It feels unnatural to eliminate someone, but we are being forced to work on our problem areas. And it's not competitive, not yet.
The newer episode is better, but it's a lot of talk and not as much improv as I would like.
Love to hear everyone's thoughts on it.

hey marcy, i just watched the second episode. one of the things that i find most interesting is just seeing how improv is presented - i really liked the bit explaining a montage and actually pointing out the tag and the edit.
what i find a bit frustrating is that all the improv you see is out of context . . . that works all right in a montage but when you try more narrative-based formats i wonder how you will be able to present it on the show. as an audience member only being shown specific parts i will have no clue if it was really a coherent story line.
but congrats on still being on the show. i'll keep watching and posting about it. anybody else watch it yet?

Marcy, I'm totally rooting for you to win!! (I think the coaches are, too.) Keep taking their notes and pushing yourself. NYC-UCB theatre is a tough crowd, but hang in there!!! Good luck in your show tomorrow night. I'm sure Chris & Arthur have told you that a bunch of us will be in NYC for Del Close. Maybe we'll get to see you play! Yahoo! I went to the Del Close fest last year and saw (too much?) improv. I wonder if I got to see you play? A couple of the cast look familiar. Hm.

we just got called out in the most recent episode!
host: if you could cut any of the judges who would it be?
coach: jason mantzoukas*. just like everyone in austin, texas i don't like that guy.
*the olive-complexion guy.
is that from what we said on this thread or was there some other thing with him that happened before i got here?
(
www.projectimproviser.com about 15-20 minutes into the episode.)

i think he meant that people from austin don't like jason. not that he (the guy saying it) doesn't like people from austin. maybe i'm wrong. it must be a reference to something cuz they all seemed to laugh pretty hard.

i understood that he meant people in austin don't like jason. i wondered whether that was a reference to the things we said in this blog basically calling jason a cocky asshole or if it was due to something else.
