Someone throw some ice on this thread!

Wow. I didn't think people would be this divided. I'm sorry. I'd thought things like this before during past discussions about specific shows and just never said anything until now. Everything that I have to say has already been said in one of these other 10 pages, so I won't say anything else, in hopes this thread will cool off.

I hope everyone will still be my friend when i come back to town. I hope everyone will still be friends at the BBQ this weekend.

In all seriousness, I want to steal that and use it myself. Except I'd add in what he said shortly after that too.

I think we have thrown the TourCo members off the track, which was our goal. Create so much other noise, that any other potentially offending remarks are lost in the crossfire.

Go for it. While reading his Wikipedia, I found another quote that I like better. See below:

OMG! Is the the end? I thought for SURE there'd be another page or two. Surely this is a new record!

Aden wrote:I thought that the show was great. Funny, witty and I was impressed that they get to tour the country doing improv.

I also thought that I've seen shows in Austin that are on par with the quality of that show. To me that was good news, not a disappointment.

Heroes of Comedy tour company? I'd like to audition for that!

I had the very same idea, Aden.
Miggy wrote:Well done show. I really enjoyed it and I loved the new Alamo.

The UCB folks were increadibly sharp...they were able to layer up themes and kept the action moving forward in thoughtful interpretive ways. Really nice to experience.

Also congrats to ColdTowne (and Cody) for the ad and the send ups from stage.

I'm not sure who organized it, but also thank you to Madeline, Ratliff and Andy for passing out flyers.
That's two posts for the guy who saw the show and enjoyed it.

I'm not sure where the disconnect came in but maybe it's because I wasn't aware that UCB was particularly hyped. I could personally care less about so-and-so famous person whom I actually don't know that's associated with their school but that's me. Maybe some people had high expectations because the trailer at the Alamo had them referring to themselves as 'the future of comedy' in a non-ironic voice. I didn't have to see a show to be turned off by that - but that's neither here nor there - I generally despise advertising and sales pitches so this is par for my course. What matters (at least to me and hopefully to them) is that I liked their improv. I'm glad they came to town and I'm glad that the Alamo had them and I'm glad that folks stood around outside to pass out fliers. Thank you.

The rest of this...I'm not sure what to say. I think it's good to have opinions...I like people with opinions. I read this forum for the opinions of people I find personally interesting, engaging or even inspiring....whether it's on improv or not, whether I agree with them or not. I don't like to see people fight but please don't stop having opinions y'all.

It's too bad I missed this thread, deleted posts and all, as I was out of town increasing my brand recognition.

I will say this: the UCB Tourco shows I have seen in the past have completely blown my mind. Their scene work was neither slow nor patient and it was intensely game heavy, damned if it wasn't super intelligent and entertaining as all fuck. What can I say? I like to be entertained.

And since it's totally within our right to publicly critique improv, I'm going to start emailing everyone notes after their shows. You shouldn't mind right? Because I'm entitled to my opinion.

* I am aware that the classy thing to do would have not put my 2 cents in. My apologies.
