Woke up, it was a Chelsea morning, and the first thing that I knew
There was milk and toast and honey and a bowl of oranges, too
And the sun poured in like butterscotch and stuck to all my senses

Sun 65
Moon 60

Sunshine came softly through my window today
Could've tripped out easy but I've changed my ways
It'll take time, I know it, but in a while
You're gonna be mine, I know it, we'll do it in style
'Cause I made my mind up, you're going to be mine.

MOON: 60
SUN: 66
The silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe. A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee. She says "My body is the life; my body is the way." I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet.

Prince Break:

We gonna play
In the sunshine
We gonna be free
Without the help of a Margarita or Ecstasy...

-----------------------------------------------------

If I don't find my destiny soon
I'll die in your arms under the cherry moon

-----------------------------------------------------

You!
I would,
Die for,
Chu!

I jumped in the river and what did I see?
Black-eyed angels swam with me
A moon full of stars and astral cars
All the things I used to see
------------------
Yeah move on now yeah
Yeah, I’m coming home
Cause, I’m just about a Moonlight Mile on down the road
Down the road, down the road
------------------
We danced on the moon
We danced by the sea
That land of blue gold
Is where we were free
-------------------
My love is the evenin' breeze touchin' your skin
The gentle, sweet singin' of leaves in the wind
The whisper that calls after you in the night
And kisses your ear in the early moonlight
And you don't need to wonder, you're doing fine
My love, the pleasure's mine
-------------------
Now Opelousas is a dim-lit town by night
But the people down there
They sure know how to live right
Why, they dance by the moon
They give a party for a fight
They got that look in their eyes says
They’re holding something sweet
Some sweet relief
---------------------------
If he was from Venus, would he meet us on the moon?
If he died in Memphis, then that'd be cool, babe.
Children by the million sing for Alex Chilton when he comes around
They sing "I'm in love. What's that song?
I'm in love with that song."

I apologize for posting the video and thus thwarting searches.

"Two moons in the sky tonight
only one of them mine
two shadows with me as I go..."

A bit of a song I wrote when I was about 20 about being torn between two women. I don't think I've ever written a song referencing the sun.

Oh, while we're at it. Two Police songs were referenced earlier - but Sting's solo career has been ignored:

"Sister moon, be my guide
in your blue blue shadows, I would hide..."

The ironic bit is that "Sister Moon" is from the "Nothing Like the Sun" CD. I guess those cancel each other out.

Oh wait, just thought of another Police tune

"Giant steps are what you take - walking on the moon..."

but back to the solo career

"Oh you'll never see my face - or hear the sound of my feet
While there's a moon over Bourbon Street..."

Here is another one of my favorites - Randy Newman:

"Their cabin is a penthouse up on Lennox Avenue
Underneath that Harlem moon..."

"There's a red moon rising
on the Cuyahoga river
rolling into Cleveland by the lake..."

"Broken windows and empty hallways
A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it’s going to rain today..."

I could go on and on with this - and probably argue either side as needed - but my preference has always been for the grey old moon.

Plus - Zappa named his daughter Moon. What more can you ask for? :)
