So INCREDIBLY disappointed to have missed this. "Stomach bug" turned into "Weeklong Hellflu". Just getting my feet back under me this weekend. The fewer details, the better.
Huge thanks to the lovely ladies of GGG and Ratliff who brought me into this whole improv thing and to so many others of you who found ways to include me in their projects/shows and even assist with a class (thx. Ms. Merlin). I've had a wonderful time this year with you all. I'm really honored by the award and hope Ms. Molson said something inexcusably rude about me when she picked it up.
And if anyone ever asks. Improvisors make for much better company than musicians. The AIC is truly a special group of people. Thanks for having me.

I'm sad I missed this event too. I'll need to photoshop myself into the photo so I can feel warm and fuzzy again. ;p
I was in Madison, WI all last week spending the holidays with the in-laws and couldn't be at the banquet. But I wanted to let everyone know how much it means to me to be nominated with such awesome people and to actually win two awards. Shannon and Erin texted me from the party to let me know and I was SO pumped. I told Jon and we had big hugs and then I straightaway called my parents, who were very sweet, and as always, expressed how it wasn't news to them. Then Jon and I went to play floor hockey with some friends in the Swedish Culture Club.
(Classic my parents: my mom sent out an email the next morning with the subject "shana merlin named best female improv comedy performer in austin texas (and the world)" and my dad promptly followed up with an email correcting her, "I think it was "Best teacher")
I told lots of people in Wisconsin, most of whom offered to buy me a drink.
I just wanted everyone to know that it means a lot to me and that I feel very grateful to be a part of such a cool (and growing) community. Thanks, bros.
And thanks to Val and Sara and Julie and all the people who worked hard to get this event together. And I would like to second the request for posting a full list of winners for those of us who couldn't attend.
¡te deseo lo mejor!

It's been a little bit since the event, but I did wish to convey my own bit of thanks.
It's become a cliché to say "it's an honor to be nominated", but it really is. I'm in no way deserving of the actual award of 'hardest working for the aic" - the community picked the right people by awarding it to Roy this year as well as Asaf last year (and I believe it was Wes the first year though my memory could be wrong). Each of them puts a ton of work into the AIC directly or indirectly and to be in their good company this year along with the ever-active Chris Trew was really quite special.
The AIC could always use more hard workers but it should be noted that they're out there even if everyone didn't get official recognition. Val in preparing the awards and potluck, Shawn in preparing the newsletter, Kristin for always organizing us and keeping us on task....to say nothing of the hard work of so many that goes into running the theaters, producing and promoting shows and festivals, tech-ing, organizing volunteers, organizing socials, administering to these forums, posting schedules, casting, coaching, teaching and directing, let alone even just rehearsing and performing. In short, there's a lot of hard workers out there - too many to mention and that's just the folks I know amongst all of the new faces (which was fantastic to see!).
The work and commitment you put into improv is what has made it a pleasure to contribute my small bit of support to this community. So when I say it's an honor just to be nominated in this category by this very hard working community - I very sincerely mean it.
AIC love,
Mike

I'll correct myself. I just spent way too much time trying to find this to be sure, but the 2006 and inaugural recipient in this category was none other than the very deserving and very first executive director of the AIC: Chris Trew.Miggy wrote:awarding it to Roy this year as well as Asaf last year (and I believe it was Wes the first year though my memory could be wrong). As a matter of record - can we post the winners from this year somewhere if we haven't already?
Thanks,
Mike
