i saw the tail end of their show last Friday, and they were rockin the improv really hard.
i also saw a really great show from them a few weeks back and they were rocking it then, too. not to mention the pussycake show. ridiculously funny.
anyhoo, i was talking about how awesome they are with supporting one another and building one another's ideas to someone this weekend and thought i'd put it out for general props.

piggyback props for 1 am and their cagematch show which was really cool. there was hefty amount of philosophy in the story and i appreciated their committment to the characters. they avoided "going there" and "heightening" and instead played it very real and very straight. i'm not saying "going there" and "heightening" are bad things. it's just good to see people using all kinds of different skills in their prov and i appreciated this show very much.
props to the 1 am.

Thanks, Erika! We're actually trying to find a balance between the frenetic Mortals style we've grown into and the slow burn (real) element of peeps like McNichol and May, The Frank Mills and 1am. I personally get inspired seeing the improv the aforementioned troupes pull off.
Don't get me wrong, I love the crazy fun stuff a lot. But I want more than a cotton candy experience to happen for the audience...otherwise it's glorified Micetro (which is a show I love doing by the way). Playing what you know in an absurd situation....how awesome is that...
And Pussycake...they're a good crew. Crazy and over the top because sometimes doing that is so freeing. I hear it's the New Braunfels water. I don't know...

Sometimes it's a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence.

I am glad you asked that Kareem. Pussycake is actually the younger, hotter sister to Hairpie. I just wanted to clear that up.kbadr wrote:Wish I'd seen that show. Dammit.
Is a pussycake a distant cousin of the urinal cake?
Also, it feels great to hear positive things about the recent shows we have had. Thanks Erica! I'd love it if we had a special segment of the message board devoted to givin props. Not just the regular ole "good show, man", but when you have soething specific to say about another person's/troupe's work. It feels good to give them. It feels good to get them. AND, we can all learn from reading them.
