The absolute best thing you can do to prepare for an improv show is to smoke a ton of weed, and anyone that says otherwise is a virgin.

Another thing that virgins like to say is that rehearsing is important. If you are going to rehearse, it should be for something that doesn't suck -- not improv, which, as we have previously established, sucks.

I would just like to say that curtis is the best at this thread. Also, I'd like to say that most improv skits are pre-planned but still aren't funny while stand up is always highly good and funny.

there is no difference between a sketch and a skit. also, the only purpose of improv is to generate ideas for sketches, and thus premise based improv is always the funniest.
