While getting ready for a show last night this song came on from my shuffled playlist. It was then that I decided this song is the official theme song of improv. It doesn't hurt that the video is so awesome.

What is yours?
I'm in luv wit mah money.

Jeff and i started a tradition of listening to Ceremony by New Order before every 710 Split show. i like that kind of sedate and subdued feel, but still with a driving sense of rhythm occasionally building to a climax. so New Order, The Cure, Joy Division, Radiohead, Broken Social Scene...that kind of stuff tends to work best for me. don't know if i could narrow it down to just one song...i would need an Official Improv Playlist. ;)
Sweetness Prevails.

For me, that song will always be Pain's Upright. More of a theme song for life, but I really admire its "take risks"/"never stop" message:

You can whine until your mouth dries up,
You can hang your head and wonder why,
You can die, or you can stand upright and never go down again

Hamoa Beach by Gomez.

I can't find the recorded version on YouTube, only a live version (from the Cannabis Cup incidentally).

For me, it's been Creator by Santogold for about 2 years.

For years this is how I got ready for clowning. Just discovered the video a little while ago, and it has my favorite clown ever: Bill Irwin.

This is how I always feel about improvising:

That was my Drum Machine run up music for a long time, except in the middle I spliced in:

That was before I stopped bringing run-up music to festivals. They always played it too soft. Soft punk rock is one of the more discouraging sounds on the planet.

For me it's a tie, between...

and...

But I have a constantly changing score rolling in my head while improvising or watching improv. :-)
