The big awards show, headlined by Upright Citizen Brigade, in 2002 was surreal.
UCB was doing sketches on Handhelds (never a good idea)
Snoop was mingling in the crown in disguise. He wore a surgical mask, but c'mon a 7', thin as a rail black guy with braids? Hows that not gonna be Snoop? In a Michael Jackson surgical mask?

And if you have never seen an awards ceremony where the presenters, winners, audience and oraganizers are all high as a kite, you haven't lived.
Nothing was getting done with any sense of organization or timeliness.
A winner for the award, for say, best coffee shop atmosphere, would be announced and we'd all wait for 10 minutes while the winner would fight his way through a packed arena. Literally imagine making your way through an SRO crowd at All-State Arena from the back of the stadium to make your way on stage by yourself, with no help from production assistants as to how to get on stage...and once you are up there, you are too stoned to know to keep your acceptance speech short. Now imagine that happening for 20 categories.

The only down side was that the week leading up to the awards show, the coffeeshops are jammed with old hippies and college students who don't know how to order and go sit down. It's like their picking out a diamond ring.

But the concerts all week were awesome... And Ron Jeremy came too with something called "Theater of Hell"
