Advertising Committee Plan of Action (from 12/13/05)

Post by Wesley »

Below is a summation of the advertising committee meeting held on 12/13/05. For each action item, a party has been assigned to complete it. Their names are listed in red.

1. Editing Audience Survey form
a) The audience survey form will be edited to remove the price question and make tweak other questions. The most major change will be the addition of a coupon for a 2-for-1 admittance at the bottom.
Assigned to: Roy
b) Talk to scheduling comittee to ask that the placement of the surveys in chairs before the show be added to the pre-show checklist that is being developed.
Assigned to: Wesley

2. Create Creative Brief for Logo development
The Logo committee will write-up a creative brief (based on John's sample) and post it to the forums for discussion by the end of the week. The brief will summize the desired philosophy for logo development.
Assigned to: Valerie (DONE)

3. Create Generic Flyers
A few generic flyers will be created to help troupes in advertising. These flyers will contain the basic Hideout information (schedule of shows, address, community motto, etc) and will leave a space blank for troupe to write in their own specific names, blurbs, and times.
Assigned to: Wesley

4. Make a List of places to hand out flyers
A list will be created with dates of major and on-going events that provide good opportunities for troupes or the community as a whole to advertise, perform, pass out flyers, etc. Examples: First Thursday, Pecan Street Festival, etc.
Assigned to: Wesley

5. Press Releases
A process and contact list will be created to streamline the press release process for upcoming shows and events. The goal is to make the process more regular and to create/enhance relations with various media outlets.
Assigned to: Andy and Erika

6. Guest Stars
Come up with ideas for having "Guest Stars" in Maestro. Proposed examples included Kinky Friedman and the Rollergirls among others.
Assigned to: Ongoing Brainstorm

7. Roll Down Initiative
Finalize idea for a "roll down" campaign, wherein people are encouraged to roll down their windows at Red Lights and stop signs and chat to the person next to them. Try to promote idea nationally (website) and get media exposure for it.
Assigned to: Andy

8. Old Year's Show Flyer
Design and distribute a flyer advertising the Old Year's Show. Details about show to be settled on Saturday's general business meeting.
Assigned to: Phil

9. Campus Schit Initiative
Get prepared to hand out and post flyers on college campuses after the semester picks back up. Research school schedules and get volunteers to help.
Assigned to: Wesley, All

10. Advertising Plan of Action
Develop short (6 month) and long (2 year) term goals for Austin Improv and the advertising initiatives.
Assigned to: Andy and Erika

11. Distribute Sausage Ball Recipe
Tell people that mixing 12 oz. of shredded cheese, 1 lb. of sausage, and 2 1/2 cups of flour in a large bowl, then mixing well (which takes some forearm strength), rolling into nickel sized balls, and baking for 12-15 minutes at 350° will result in the delicious treat known as Sausage (or Sausage Cheese) Balls.
Assigned to: Wesley (DONE)

RELEASE:
AUSTIN IMPROV EXPANDS PROGRAMMING IN RESPONSE TO EXPLOSIVE GROWTH

For Immediate Release

Austin, TX – December 26th 2005

Austin Improv expands schedule and restructures show times at the Hideout to accommodate audience enthusiasm and burgeoning artistic movement

http://www.austinimprov.com

In response to the unprecedented growth and audience interest in the city's improv scene in 2005, not-for-profit theatre Austin Improv is thrilled to announce expanded programming at their current home base, The Hideout. The creation of the Austin Improv theatre organization is the result of the convergent enthusiasm of numerous improv groups around the city coming together to further the craft of improvisational comedy as a united, artistic movement.

Beginning January 5th, 2006, Austin Improv will present seven (7) shows a weekend, up from the four (4) shows offered in 2005. These shows will feature teams and improvisers performing a variety of forms, inspired by philosophical approaches from New York to Chicago to San Francisco, and beyond.
