I like this part the most "We can provide costume if needed."

Y'know, if you don't happen to have your own.

Justin laughs because he has a spare Spiderman costume.

Is it really still a Spiderman costume if the crotch is cut out?

It makes it easier to spray "web" fluid, so yes.

Psh, it's Superman, get it right.

(I actually had an internal debate about choosing him, Green Lantern, or Flash. Geek. Duh.)

They're talking about the Jewish Spiderman.

Even James Gunn knows about him.

He can team up with Jewish Wolverine.

oh, Neil Spiderman from Spiderman, Batmankowitz and Hellvoy. they represented my cousin a few years back. trumped up vandalism charge, got it knocked down to community service and time served. good man, a real mensch.

and is that young Marvin Wolverstein there? why, i haven't seen him since Mary Marvelberg's bat mitzvah! such a handsome young man he's grown up to be...his mother must be so proud! remind me to call Sheila and Herschl Wolverstein this week. it's been too long...

There's probably real money in this for somebody who can skirt the licensing rights issue. This is apparently in high demand.

I'm actually dressing up as Spider-man (is that better?) this weekend for my nephews birthday party.

I don't know why or what happened, but Spider-man is HUGE amongst the 3-5 year olds these days.

My nephew runs around shooting pretend webs and singing Spider-man songs all the time.

Before anyone takes this job, you should totally ask what you are supposed to perform. Otherwise it could be awkward and sad.

You think the client might be a lonely lady hoping to stage an upside down kiss?

Ah Andy, your mind is always right in the gutter ;)

No. Often people have a vague idea of what they want, but they don't say it, they just say "perform" or some other wide meaning word like that. So, if you don't ask you get into the situation where you are expecting one thing (walk around and talk to the kids, eat bad birthday cake and leave) where she is expecting another (tell the story of your latest adventure, perform a few magic tricks and do a few simple gymnastic feats, wow the kids with your spider-magnatism and transform the party into a Marvel-esque fantasy world.) When you show up she'll ask you to begin and you won't really know what to do, then her eyes will fill with tears and the kids will look at you like a monster....

Just, you know, hypothetically....

So, it is always good to get expectations clear before you start.
(BTW- $50 is okay if they are providing the costume - if not you should charge $75-$100 - don't undercut the professionals!)
