The Center of Contemporary Dance and Movement Arts is teaching two classes this fall that may be of interest to the improv community:

MOVEMENT FOR PHYSICAL COMEDY
Thursdays 7:35-9:00pm, 9/8-10/13 $10/class or $45/full series. Register by 9/5, 4 person minimum.
In this six-week workshop series, students will learn the aspects of physical performance with an emphasis on physical comedy and variety performance. These include: a physical vocabulary for performance; secrets to keeping things fresh; variety showmanship; exaggerated, economical, and static movement, a clown's application of "viewpoints"; and more. 587-9139

SLAPSTICK COMEDY
Saturdays 1:00-3:00pm. 11/19-12/10. $15/class or $50/full series. Register by 11/15, 4 person minimum.
In this four-week workshop series, students will learn the aspects of slapstick comedy. These include: the body (takes, hits, & falls); relationship (A's, B's, & C's), the extensions (slapsticks, water, & floor), and application (classic & original material AND a public performance showcase). 587-9139

INSTRUCTORS
Ben Schave and Caitlin Reilly are the modern day version of vaudeville's baggy-pants physical comedians. They found their training at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College the Del' Arte School of Physical Theatre and have performed for circus, commedia, fairs, festivals, cruise ships, and variety shows, in the U.S. and abroad.
