Plain clothes comedians

i think for even the most casual improv show, unless you have a specific costume of pajamas or whatever, there is a baseline:

pick one:
T-shirt
Shorts
Sandals

But please, please! never all three.

I also want to note that I once saw a duo (not from ATX) who were really great imps, but who on the night of their show, dressed with purpose and strong intention and yet the result was a very casual look -- almost no different from their everyday clothing.

I will also say, that though they wore different clothes, they seemed to wear the same KIND of clothes... a kind of breezy casual -- which seemed to be their everyday style.

It is funny to me to think about WORKING for that breezy, casual, neutral look across a cast -- whether is it is 2 or 8 ppl. I imagine that its much harder with 8 ppl because their base styles probably differ more. Its common for some ppl in groups to be unhappy about the idea of a dress code, a uniform or matching style of dress. Our clothes are US, right? Clothes make the man?? They are tied to our EGO, right? And yet... improv + ego = ...

In the end, during the show for this awesome duo, I did not think about their clothes AT ALL. I only saw their character and their improv. It was a great show and they played a mix of status and dynamics that is nice to see in duos.

Jeff and i had three shows in a row where we had to meet up at the theatre having not seen each other all day...only to find ourselves wearing the exact same outfit (once down to the same jacket. :p). that was spooky...and looked a little TOO intentional, so we modified ourselves a bit to look like the same template, but still personalized.

not sure how that applies to Maestro specifically, beyond the number of times i've shown up to find other tall stocky men wearing untucked vertically striped dress shirts...:p
