Not to mention the shooty-killy people in the outrigger canoe. It's like the island has this whole "angry native" population that we've never seen.

The more I read about the finale parties, the more paranoid I'm getting that the ending's going to be spoiled for me before I get to catch up and watch it.

If anybody spoils any part of the finale for me, I am going to stab them in the face. This is not a threat, it's a fact.

I can at least assure you there will be no spoilers from me, Kareem.

But whoa, wait a second... if you're not caught up, Kareem, what're ya doing on this thread? :) This thread completely abandoned the pretense of spoiler-free a couple seasons ago (or maybe it was season 5). I hope you're staying safe, man.

How ironic, considering the series ends with Jack stabbing Widmore in the face...

Everybody get their tix?

Where are you in the show? So I can talk with you, but not spoil things...

So, any ideas? How do they kill the Smoke Monster?
last night, nearly all shots fired at him went straight through/no effect, but there was at least one that had a ricochet. Not really sure what brand of invincible he is...
Personally, when I try to predict how one might defeat The Locke-ness Monster, I fail. I'm afraid the writers' only course available is to bring in some deus ex machina at the last minute which will defeat him... maybe some esoteric old fail-safe that the castaways learn about in the final episode. The problem with that, narrative-wise, is that the audience waits through six entire seasons to find out a solution that we never could have guessed, so the anticipation for the nature of the final face-off is non-existent. What that means is, they'd better make up for that missing anticipation with a raucous-awesome final showdown.

Thoughts, anybody?
You guys are completely missing it.

Smocke will be defeated just like Jacob said -- when he realizes that a stuffed shirt like Jack can become chill, a cynic like Sawyer can learn commitment and responsibility, a fatty like Hurly can learn to love himself and his body, and that Kate is hot and doesn't need to learn any lessons, then the man in black's heart will grow three sizes that day.

Or that little part of Locke that is still alive inside of Smocke will assert itself and sacrifice itself to kill the beast.

Or they will all travel back in time to a point in Earth's history when primitive man is just evolving, destroy their technology by hurling it into the sun, and mate with the natives, providing the essential midichlorians necessary for human evolution, and we realize that all of this has happened before and all of it will happen again.
