I know we're thread-jacking here, but I was in Chicago for the improv festival with Dusk. I did a workshop, and one of the guys from ImproTop (a Mexican troupe) was in the workshop. He and I did an exercise together and started improvising in Spanish for a bit. It was difficult for me, but exhilarating.

No domino el idioma pero puedo hablar asi asi. Quiero tratar de improvisar en espanol! (después de mas practica)

How about an all-spanish Maestro either in a primarily spanish-speaking area of town, or some special event at the Hideout targeting Spanish-speaking audience? AIC has marketing support for such an event available...

(I'm writing up proposals for city funding for the AIC today, so this kind of thing is on my radar at the moment...)
I know Les McGehee has done some all-Spanish improv events before. He might be a good person to contact.

I'd love to help facilitate an all Spanish Maestro. Maybe at that fancy Mexican-American center they have just east of I35 by the river...? Anyway, I'll do whatever I can to help, but my Spanish is not great. I'll send a ping out to see if any of our standard directors are fluent. If not, maybe we could do a half and half thing.

Dear Andy,
I am more than happy to help with tech. Just letting you know that I have never done tech before so don't throw me your chancla if I mess up. Thanks for your consideration. See you Saturday.

Spanish you say

Post by crazica »

First and foremost I want to say YYYAAAAYYY to Regina! Tu vas chica! You well do awesome. Now for the Spanish Maestro, hey did you know that maestro means teacher en espanol, I think a Spanglish one would be best. I am fluent but would hate to think that anyone would feel left out...so let's make it TexMex. Also, why couldn't the Hideout host it...there's Spanish spoken all over Austin and you can find my people all over....just ask the Gov of Arizona....lol. Whenever Shades of Brown does scenes in Spanish or uses Spanish we usually get a big positive response from the audience. So, I say let's do it! Si se puede.

I'm also very flattered to be officially awesome in an unofficial way! Damn straight!

Thanks Erica! And I'd be up for Spanglish improv. I can do that! I think!
