There was a period of time 9 or 10 years ago when Austin public access TV would show They Live, with the sound mostly turned down, and Portishead playing under the film. It was oddly intriguing.,

Speaking of aliens... I was thinking about this series. I was enthralled -- as we the rest of the US... until this laughable episode. Remember, Yoda appeared in the Empire Strikes Back four years earlier.

Contemporary VFX & puppet movies from 1984 included: Gremlins, The Last Starfighter, The Search for Spock, Ghostbusters, Nightmare on Elmstreet, Muppets take Manhattan, Neverending Story and the Terminator.

Also released that year: Footloose, Karate Kid, and Sixteen Candles. It was a big year for cult movies.

Oh, yes! and Heavy Rain...it's a game, but you don't play it as much as you watch it. REALLY good though.

I've been watching more noir lately, and this video just makes me want watch every movie it pulled clips from.

Also, I started watching The Riches. It's pretty good, and a very interesting study of episodic television, in that I can see them making very strategic moves to introduce conflict down the line. Though it's not annoyingly predictable or anything. I'm amazed how much Izzard's accent slips all over the place, though, especially in the opening narration (hope they re-recorded that after the first season.)

You're the first person I've heard note Izzard's accent, which I thought was strikingly inconsistent. I've seen season one only, though.

I think I've seen reference to it in a few places.

I figured out his problem area last night. Long vowels leading into an 'r' sound turn all John Wayne-y. Someone give Eddie the note for me. About his show. That's not been on the air in 2 years.
