The Lair - a new theater opening in April

Post by Mike »

Improv comes to Round Rock this April with the grand opening of "The Lair" a new comedy/event center located right off I35 between Hester's Crossing and RR620.

Right now we're under construction and will be installing theater lights, the sound equipment, seats, and all the amenities a theater has to offer. But we're missing one thing: you.

With our current schedule we have seven slots open for performances and an eighth slot open for those who are new to improv but want to get some stage time under their belts.

Our schedule was heavily influenced by the Hideout's and will look like this when we open:

Wednesdays:

8pm: Movie screenings. A different genre every week from Anime to Horror.

10pm: "Fresh Fish" - A free show where improv troupes get 15 minutes to strut their stuff. Great for those folks who want to get some extra stage time under their belts.

Thursdays:

8pm: "The Trifecta" Three troupes in one show. Different lineup every week.

Fridays:

8pm: Main Event: Family Friendly Improv with two troupes performing a 45 minute set each.

10PM. Main Event Part 2: Adult (PG 13 and up) improv with two troupes each performing 45 to 50 minutes.

Saturday:

8pm: Featured Attraction - one troupe in a 4 week run to do whatever they want.

10pm: The Gauntlet - Under development. Weekly casting calls will go out to fill this show.

12am: Adult Film Festivals - Films ranging from Troma to New Moon, to clip shows of bad horror, action, and other genres. Free show.

Currently we have openings for all the above shows. If you would like to perform send an email to mike(dot)kinald at gee mail dot com. Please include:

Troupe name
Troupe contact person
Availability for April and May
Do you perform regularly at another theater?
If yes, where and when?
Do you have a website or facebook page, and if yes, what is the address?
Are you Improv or Sketch?

We are accepting availability from today March 6th until March 20th at noon. Sketch and improv folks are welcome to perform.

I know we had a record number of folks apply for the Hideout this last time around. Hopefully this theater will open up some more stage time for the community and allow folks North of Austin to experience the talents of the AIC.

The street address and other information for the theater will be sent out soon.

We're looking forward to having you perform in the AIC's newest theater, The Lair!

Sweet peaches! That's only minutes from my house! Consider me interested!

The only thing that would make this even more awesome would be if it had an improv jam as well. (Unless I misinterpreted the description behind the Fresh Fish show. Otherwise, I'm officially worshiping you now.)
