So is part of the lie that a candidate to become the new smoke monster is promised that they will leave the island? Like the smoke monster must trade bodies with his replacement?

I like the idea that the smoke monster has a list, but it might be just a shittier version of Jacob's list in the lighthouse, since he'd only be tracking Jacob and wouldn't know everything Jacob knows. Too bad 108 is that Wallace guy; I thought Kate might be 108.

EDIT: 4 + 8 + 16 + 23 = 51. Probably means nothing.

EDIT II: "[51] is also the 6th Motzkin number, telling the number of ways to draw non-intersecting chords between any six points on a circle's boundary, no matter where the points may be located on the boundary." - Wikipedia

EDIT III: I am bored tonight.

Hurley gets a boner

Post by HerrHerr »

I just watched Season 2: Episode 18 -- "Dave."

Libby is a red herring. She, in my opinion, was incorporated into Hurley's memory of his time in the mental institution
as a way to justify--to Hurley--her like for him in the real world...that is...his time spent on the island.

A deeper level of his neourosis--which, in some ways, presents itself now in a much less emotionally satisfying way and more as a plot tool.

And was used to throw us off the scent of the true mysteries of the island...if but for only one week...

As a way to end an episode on a cliffhangerish note that doesn't really matter to the show's plot.

A red herring.

Also, Locke and Ben's (Henry Gale's) relationship is so fun to watch in its infancy.

No.
And nope.

Wait, you'll see. Libby has more to do with the overall story than you think.

Here's what I'm thinking/hoping: The temple wasn't really for the characters as much as it was for the audience. It was so we could take some time to rest up and take things slow for a few episodes right before everything gets pulled out from under us.

If this is the case, everything is about to get nuts.

I agree. Seeing Keamy again was a trip, and now alterna-Jin is mixed up in the alterna-Sayid story, and an UnLocke-led evil army is headed off to destruction while the Team Jacob rebels and Ben are conspiring for some kind of war, and Sawyer is about to discover one last reason why he actually doesn't want to leave the island yet, Jack is about to realize how he's got to take the lead, and some mystery entity is coming to the island. If LOST is playing their cards right, the remaining ten episodes should be an awesome ride.

hot damn, that was a great episode. i don't want everyone going over to Locke's side, but it's been so cool to see the "evil" versions of Claire and Sayid, i'm curious to see everyone else's dark side. lol!

and now...happier times...

It took this montage of Ben getting the snot beat out of him over the years for me to realize who the mafia eggs guy was in the last episode. Sneaky.

Also, it apparently doesn't matter what timeline/universe it is, Sayid's a badass in it.

Not to brag or anything, but I've always noticed that.

Yeah, Ben got the shit kicked out of him even when he was in control of the situation.

One of the best parts about Locke being the bad guy is that you KNOW he's the bad guy but you still wanna like him. It was a good move.

I really would have loved it if they'd played Gordon Lightfoot.

You know, that song Sundown?
