Mass Effect 2 released this week

Post by PaulM »

Just wanted to share the launch trailer for Mass Effect 2 - a project that I worked on for nearly 2 years. The game will be released on Tuesday, Jan. 26th.

The trailer will also air tomorrow during tomorrow's NFC game between the Vikings and Saints - at the the two-minute warning break (btw, any game-watching parties this weekend?).

Thanks for watching...

To also keep it a bit topical to these fora, here's an interview with Mark Meer, the male voice actor for Shepard, Mass Effect 2's protagonist. For those who don't know of Mark, he's one of the lead players of Edmonton's Rapid Fire Theatre improv company.

The interview touches upon Mark's role in Mass Effect 2 & his improv work as well.

This is so exciting!! :D

I wish I was going to be somewhere where I could watch the game and see the trailer.

Who will be able to watch it and report back?

My husband is super psyched as well:) He predicted it would be the "best game ever" this morning.

I got to watch the game after all... and I got to see the trailer during the game... both were AWESOME.

My dad was even like "Do I have to have a game console to play? Cuz... I wanna play"

awesome :)

Wow, I actually caught this during the game not having read this on the forum.

I was like, "What the hell is this?" It was like a cool break from a tense game.

Great work!

Actually there is a lot of cool voice talent on the game: Adam Baldwin, Seth Green, Tricia Helfer (Number Six from Battlestar), Michael Hogan (Tigh from Battlestar), Carrie-Ann Moss, Keith David (best voice ever), Michael Dorn and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Cool.

I can't allow myself to see any trailers or read reviews. I will have to play the game all the way through using all available free time. I don't think I'm ready for that kind of commitment.

After its release yesterday, the review embargo was lifted and the game is currently tracking fairly well - it's leveled off at 96 on Metacritic.

Thanks for the nods, guys. It was a challenge for sure.

Awesome! I am really looking forward to playing this game Paul. I work over at Vigil Games. Hurray for Austin Improv and Austin Games!

Thanks Joe! I hope you enjoy it (I'm about 3/4s the way through myself).

A number of my co-workers meet each Tues/Thurs for a lunch-hour ultimate game with some Vigil folks. The Austin game dev community is a really great one (NY's game scene is still fairly sparse).
