Austin Sketch Fest Calls For Submissions!

Post by Jastroch »

Hey pals,

ColdTowne Theater is adding to the Austin Comedy Festival din this May by hosting the very cleverly named Austin Sketch Festival, Memorial Day Weekend. More details are coming shortly, but if you've got some scripted comedy you'd like to showcase to the entire world, please see below.

Call for Submisions:

ColdTowne Theater is proud to announce it’s first annual sketch comedy festival: Austin Sketch Fest! We are seeking acts to perform in Austin over Memorial Day weekend, 2010. All shows will take place at the ColdTowne Theater and at another venue TBA.

About ColdTowne Theater:

The ColdTowne Theater is Austin’s main stage for alternative comedy, with improv, sketch and stand up shows Thursday through Monday, featuring the smartest, brightest, and hardest-working comedians in Central Texas. ColdTowne’s resident comedians are three time winners of the Austin Chronicle’s “Best of Austin” Readers Poll for “Best Comedy Group” and have appeared all over country at festivals, on college campuses and at house parties.

ColdTowne Theater is home to the ColdTowne Conservatory which offers six levels of improv classes and three levels of sketch classes. ColdTowne has hosted improv and sketch workshops by nationally renowned performers and writers, such as the Upright Citizen’s Brigade and former S NL writer and People’s Improv Theater owner Ali Farahnakian.

About Austin:

Besides being the live music capital of the world, the Austin improv and sketch comedy community is growing at an explosive rate. Austin is currently home to five different improv venues, four conservatories, the Out of Bounds improv and sketch festival and the Ladies Are Funny Festival.

Submissions:

Submissions can be submitted online at http://www.ATXsketchfest.com or mailed to 4803-B Airport Blvd, Austin, TX 78751 and are due by February 1st, 2010. Please include the following in your submission packet:

Are there time constraints for these sketch shows? Or a preferred/general length for the performances?
