It didn't feel like he was there to actually influence things (well, except for Locke, that was drastic, unless Locke just happened to open his eyes at that moment), and more as a witness to significant life events. Like it was their own decisions, desires, conflicts, whatever... life changing moments that would define their futures... and he was there not to change shit, but just touch them and seal their fate or something.
Yes!! (and no, there was no "reviving" of Locke going on. I'm sorry to hear anybody interpreted it that way).

He definitely got Kate off the hook, which changed some shit. And while I agree with Jeff that he didn't revive Locke, I think he had to do something to at least partially heal him. Maybe bring him out of a coma or something... Dead IS dead, but I don't think that fall killed him, for some odd reason.

True. I mean, if we can agree that the hydrogen bomb went off, and that detonated hydrogen bombs always kill people who are in their immediate vicinity (if those people are not protected by refrigerators), and that our circa '77 heroes were in the hydrogen bomb's immediate vicinity (sans the shelter of a refrigerator), then we can agree that those people were killed and Ceej owes me a beer.
Yeah, but the funny thing is that back in 1977 I predicted that this season would end with the hydrogen bomb going off, so...until we can establish who dies and doesn't and what death even means...you'll have to wait until next year to get a beer. I mean seriously...how do we not know that the force of the island didn't lessen the impact of the bomb? Also, I didn't see anyone check Locke's pulse...

Hmm.  Okay, then by my calculations, both of you currently owe each other a beer.

Crap! I was gonna try and watch all of last season again. I mean, there's still time....
I also thought about watching the entire series again....but that eats up most of the counter you posted.

That's a sweet and bold move for the trailer to make the statue look like a chess piece. My only issue with the trailer's chess motif is that the series began with the black and white of backgammon, not of chess.

Backgammon doesn't look as cool in an ad.

It's so great that we won't see a single clip from the new season until it actually starts. I'm crazy from anticipation.

NEW THEORY!

dON'T READ FURTHER IF YOU DON'T LIKE LOST THEORIES.

#1 Christian is Jacob.
It was far too easy for Jacob to be killed.
Fake Locke arrived on the island in a casket.
Christian arrived in a coffin (so Christian probably had been on the island before too).

Question:

In your mind, was Jacob helping save Sayid's life when he asked for directions from him
or was he helping to have Sayid's wife be run over so that Sayid would go back to the island?

(or both...but I don't like that as a response really...)

Before I say my view on the Sayid/Jacob thing, can you please clarify this for me? Like flesh it out some? Are you saying that fake Locke is in the coffin? Because the shocker is supposed to be that real Locke is dead in the coffin. Plus, the Locke of Season 5 (look folks, if you're not caught up, do my conscience a favor and don't read this...) is clearly a different kind of guy than the real Locke. In fact, it seems that he's the The Man in Black, the arch enemy of Jacob who has wanted to kill Jacob for centuries.

If the Locke in the coffin is fake, why, then Locke himself has devised the Long Con of the century, so much so that my brain makes farting noises just trying to imagine the mechanics of it.

And, so Christian Shepard is Jacob? As in, Jack's father is Jacob? Or are you saying, the apparition of Christian is Jacob? Cause one thing, I mean, we see Jacob at the hospital candy machine while Jack is talking with Christian.

So, what do you mean, Christian is Jacob?

This seems a little off to me but maybe, from Chris' perspective, Jacob is "using" Christian the same way the man in black is "using" Locke. Although frankly I think the man in black is using the forms of everyone we've seen in the show so far who wasn't really there, and either he is the smoke monster or he controls the smoke monster.
