Merlin Works Improv Mixer Sunday Nov 8th 2pm - 4pm
It's that time again!
In the last Merlin Works Improv Mixer, we had a capacity crowd, a ton of fun, and we cast 3 shows and 2 troupes out of it. So come on back or for the first time on Sunday Nov 8th at 2pm and see what all the fuss is about.
Cost: FREE ninety nine!

IMPROV MIXER
Merlin Works will be hosting our third Improv Mixer on Sunday November 8th 2pm - 4pm at Salvage Vanguard Theater with a new twist. As usual, The Improv Mixer is intended to help improvisers make new friends and form or find troupes to rehearse and perform with. It's kinda like Speed Dating for Improvisers. This time around The Mixer will also serve as auditions for upcoming Gnap! Theater Projects Shows and Troupes.
The Mixer is open to the entire community: students, free agents, existing troupes looking for new members, coaches, or anyone who wants a free workout. At the beginning, people will state their improv interests, goals, and what they are looking for. Then I will lead an improv warmup where everyone will get to know each other and get comfortable. Then we will be divided into groups for open scenework. It's free, it's fun, and you just might get cast in a show or set up with a group of improvisers and a coach to form a new troupe.**
Sunday November 8th 2pm - 4pm Cost: FREE

Best way is to let me know if you're interested in any of the upcoming projects. If we know your work, that's probably enough to go on. If we don't know your work, well, that might be a harder thing to figure out.Jon Bolden wrote:If one is unable to attend, how could they audition for a Gnap! cast?
We'll have more info soon about our upcoming prime time shows and what we'll be looking for, but I do know that one of the things will be a new troupe, a la Continental Breakfast, to play in the Saturday Night Special in February 2010.

Hey Everybody! This is Audrey Sansom, Gnap! company member and longtime improvisor. I am proud and excited to announce that I'll be directing a new project for Gnap! I wanted to let you know a little bit about the project and encourage everyone to come out to the Merlin Works Improv Mixer.
The mixer will be used to help cast the first big mainstage show for Gnap! in 2010, an improv show based off of One Thousand and One Nights (or Arabian Nights)
If you love fantasy and adventure, exotic storytelling, and intense hot fun in the desert sands come on out to the Merlin Works Improv Mixer. Can't wait to see you there!

The main frame story concerns a Persian king and his new bride. Upon discovering his wife's infidelity, the king, Shahryar, has her executed and then declares all women to be unfaithful. He begins to marry a succession of virgins only to execute each one the next morning. Eventually the vizier, whose duty it is to provide them, cannot find any more virgins. Scheherazade, the vizier's daughter, offers herself as the next bride and her father reluctantly agrees. On the night of their marriage, Scheherazade begins to tell the king a tale, but does not end it. The king is thus forced to postpone her execution in order to hear the conclusion. The next night, as soon as she finishes the tale, she begins (and only begins) a new one, and the king, eager to hear the conclusion, postpones her execution once again. So it goes on for 1,001 nights.
The tales vary widely: they include historical tales, love stories, tragedies, comedies, poems, burlesques and various forms of erotica. Numerous stories depict djinn, magicians, and legendary places, which are often intermingled with real people and geography, not always rationally...
If you love fantasy and adventure, exotic storytelling, and intense hot fun in the desert sands come on out to the Merlin Works Improv Mixer. Can't wait to see you there!

Go back to any pilot you can think of and you'll find a bunch of nervous actors just trying not to get fired.
