Have anything to donate?

Post by Maggie Maye »

I hate to hit you all up for donations, but I know of some friends whose house burned down a week ago today. There are 6 people without a home who also lost one of their roommates/friends.

If you could give anything, ANYTHING at all, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you would like to donate items, that would be great. They might not have a place for a while, but I know they're are accepting, as well as furniture donations like any old mattresses, futons, drawers, pillows and blankets. They're also accepting clothes and shoes and the recent chilly weather reminds me that I don't know if any of them have jackets or coats.

You can make cash donations at this site: www.bankruptandtheborrowers.com
If you have items you would like to donate, PM me and I can pick them up or let you know where to drop them off (you know, whichever is most convenient).

Please keep the Pettis family and everyone at East Cameron in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks everyone.

I know them too! They have raised 6000+ dollars to help them get back on their feet. I wish I knew what they still needed specifically. They have also found another house to rent on the same street and are doing pretty well, it seems, given the horrific tragedy. just an update if anyone wondered... Might as well still consider donating things to them. I'm not saying they're all set or anything. 6000 dollars can go real fast.

Can we set up a place where people can drop stuff off? Maggie, if you email Kareem, I bet he'd be happy to set aside some space in the greenroom this weekend.

I just had a friend call the guys and he doesn't think they need anything beyond mayyybe household items. But, they are working with the Red Cross, so if there's anything you want to donate it will make its way to someone as they will pass on surplus to Red Cross who have been really incredible. Thanks! It's wonderful they got so much help so quickly. I wish others in need get the same.

Since I posted this, like Katie said, I think they've gotten on their feet pretty well. I'll double check with one of their neighbours they're close with to see if there are specific items they need. Thanks everyone for your support.
