Get Up abroad!

Post by shando »

Get Up is excited and proud to announce that we have been accepted and confirmed as participants in the 15th International Improvisation Theatre Festival in Amsterdam in January 2010.

What makes this really exciting for us is the nature of the festival. In addition to doing our own Get Up shows, the event is really process heavy, with week-long workshops and rehearsals mixing improvisers (mostly Johnstonian?) from all over the world into new ensembles and shows.

On a personal note, I'm excited for a chance to get some good first-hand exposure to the Dutch accent for a future run of Spices.

We're looking forward to spreading the good news about Austin internationally and bringing back some styles that most of us don't have a chance to see very often if ever.

Thanks for your continued support. I can't think of a better way to celebrate our fifth anniversary as a performing group.

Wow! What a time for Austin improv.

- Best Out of Bounds ever (according to many)
- Massive growth
- New Hideout owners
- B. Iden Payne recognition
- Mojo Kickball Wall Street Journal
- Get Up goes abroad!

What an amazing community we have. I probably forgot some things but you get the point.

Just got my Amsterdam guidebook.

Damn, they have a seafaring museum with a 17th century Dutch East India company trading ship in the canal next to it. You can go inside Rembrandt's studio. The part of me that likes to be Cornelius is very very giddy.

Oh yeah, there will also be improv.
