OOB 2009 Workshops are Live!

Post by smerlin »

We've lined up some amazing Master Classes this year for OOB. Each of the 7 classes last 4 hours, so you get lots of quality time and scenework with your teacher. And these instructors are top notch. Class size is limited and this year's OOB is bigger than ever, so I recommend registering early.

Workshops are taking place Friday - Monday of OOB. Registration and more information at http://www.outofboundsimprov.com/2009/workshops.html

Here's an overview:

Friday

If you've never taken a Joe Bill class I would recommend it. He throws out many sweet pearls of wisdom that are easily absorbed and can be made useful right away.
They call me Dollar Bill 'cause I always make sense.

We opened up a few more slots in these classes so the max is 16.

We have also added an audit option for things that are sold out. You can pay $20 to just sit and watch, take notes, and digest from a distance. You won't be allowed to get up and get instruction, but it could be sweet if you're feeling any recession-burn.

Rich Talarico Class Added

due to popular demand and rabid demand, we have added another Monday class to our lineup.

Monday, September 7, 2009 @The Hideout Theatre, 12pm - 4pm
Master Class: Rich Talarico - THE WAY OF IMPROV: A Zen Approach to Improv.

The basketball player, the jazz musician, and the theatrical improviser all must simply go with the flow of what is happening... And, ultimately everyone must bend for the common good. Learn to go with the flow. It's tools not rules in this workshop. Each improv situation is different...and a rule that works in one situation --does not work in another. Cut the rules loose and learn to go with the flow. Team work is everything here. As the Hopi saying goes: "One finger can't lift a pebble."

This is isn't even up on the web site yet it's so hot off the presses and only people reading this will now about it first, until we can send out an email blast to the traveling groups.

register for it here:

Bob and I love Rich and Rebecca Sohn and suggest that you sign up for their workshop immediately. We both took their classes at Annoyance this past year. They are solid, wise, and have a smart teaching style that will either fuck you up in the head or make doves fly out of your heart. Also, Rich often makes me question my own linguistic cognition.

Why this class isn't sold out by now is beyond me. Rich and Rebecca rock.

Rich and Rebecca are two of my favorite and best teachers I've had in Chicago. Seriously.
