Want your opinion on this...

Post by Asaf »

Here is what I hate. More and more people are doing text blasts about their shows.

It annoys me every time I see it.

For me, texting is for when you want to communicate to me personally, as in one on one. Maybe, you send out a blast because you have a party and you are inviting a large group of people at once.

But, I say, DON'T send me a text about your show. I have gotten your email and your Facebook blast. I don't need another reminder on my phone.

It feels invasive.

Am I alone on this one?

Had I ever gotten one I would feel the same. Also, email and Facebook group invites are easy enough to opt in and out of. But if people are texting you, you damn sure didn't sign up anywhere to be on a texting list.

I'm with you.

I have one friend that is not on facebook, whom I will personally text to tell her about shows, but she's requested it.

I have another friend who will email, facebook, and text for her events. i finally filtered her out and asked her to take me off the list. I am ADD but I don't need 3 reminders of your event in the same day.

Depending on your plan, texts also cost money to send and receive.

Nope. I don't think I've gotten one yet, but if I did, I'd probably be more ticked off than inclined to go to that show.

That was exactly what I was going to say. Texting costs money, not only from the person sending them but also from your own plan. Whereas Facebook, email and the like are free.

Who are these mysterious transgressors that are targeting just Asaf? I haven't gotten any texts either.

Personally, I'm not bothered any more by a text blast than I am a facebook event invite.

My texting is unlimited though. I guess if I had to pay 15 cents for it I might be very very mildly irritated.

Hahaha. I would love to see exactly 15 cents worth of anger.
They call me Dollar Bill 'cause I always make sense.
