Looking for God

Post by LisaJackson »

Hey all,

I'm looking for a preacher in Austin that has a dramatic build up in his or her sermons and that MLK cadence, but who isn't all hellfire and brimstone. Anyone know of a place where I could experience that?

P.S. I'm not looking for a church to join, just doing research.

Rev. Joseph C. Parker, Jr.

He's the son of a preacher and married the daughter of a preacher. He grew up in Alabama and his father and Dr. King were classmates at Morehouse and were active together in the civil rights movement in Montgomery and Birmingham.

Rev. Parker is quite accomplished in his own right, though, and is a remarkable and candid speaker. His church is just East of I-35 on Martin Luther King Blvd..
