Shuffle for me
Everything else, basically.
Moderators: arclight, happywaffle
Bollywood to Battersea (at Amsterdam Paradiso, 1/5/06) - Babyshambles
Everything Means Nothing To Me (at Roseland Theatre, Portland, 11/10/2000) - Elliott Smith
The Ordinary Boys - Morrissey
George Michael - Tapes 'n Tapes
7 Deadly Frenchmen (demo) - The Libertines
Ha, this would be an 8, probably. Elliott Smith is my favorite. Tapes 'n Tapes I like, though mostly because of The Loon, I haven't listened to Walk It Off that much. Babyshambles is a Libertines offshoot. I love The Smiths, and don't listen to Morrissey's solo stuff as much. If it had been a Smiths track, it'd probably be a 9, with only the fact that I haven't obsessively listened to hours upon hours of Tapes 'n Tapes bringing it down.
Still lots of stuff missing, though. I'll play again one day...

i need a quick mental work break, so...
1- The Shangri-Las "Out In The Streets"
2- The Homosexuals "Soft South Africans"
3- Michael Robinson & his Ever Ready Sports Band "Iyawo Serere"
4- Spoon "30 Gallon Tank"
5- Peter Cook + Dudley Moore "Pete & Dud on Sex"
wow, unexpected home run. 9.5? about as close as i can get to a good mix of stuff.
prob my favorite shangri-las tune -- just a perfect song all around. check out the awesome clip on youtube below of them doing it on Shindig back in the day. homosexuals song - great, flip of their first single. another one i never tire of. then a great tune from a comp of juju music on the late great original music label. awesome spoon tune from still my favorite album of theirs. and then some comedy from their tv show "not only but also." more than half of the original 13 episodes produced are now lost (thanks to the then-common bbc/itv policy of wiping and reusing videotape), but this sketch of their half-improvised "pete n dud" characters had thankfully been preserved on an lp.

bonus pete n dud (different sketch)

The Shangri-Las were the best. I saw Mary Weiss at SxSW a couple of years back, and while her new material was pretty good, I was just happy to be in her presence.
"I Can Never Go Home Anymore" reduces me to a sobbing wreck, without fail, whenever the "Hush little baby" section starts.
Morrisey once named "Heaven Only Knows" as his favorite song.
That's all I know.

1. "Feel The Power of Rock & Roll" Wesley Willis
-Not one of my favorite WW songs, but it does represent the humorous/novelty portion of my collection.
2. "Follow Me" Uncle Kracker
-well...i'm not a fan of this song. However, it does represent the "songs I downloaded to play when I tech shows" portion of my collection.
3. "Big Egos" Dr.Dre
-I love Dre...this is one of my lesser enjoyed songs of his though.
4. "The Plan" Buit to Spill
-Hells yeah, I listen this song all the time. I still remember the first time I heard it during high school while riding on a speedboat across grapevine lake.
5. "Crazy" Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
-Every once in a while I get in the mood to listen to this band. I also use them frequently when teching. It does in some ways represent the embarrassing punk part of my collection.
I'd give this list a 5 or a 6 as far as representing my music collection. In terms of taste though, it is more of a 3 or 4 (with the exception of built to spill).

this is my itunes on shuffle since i dont have an ipod.
bohemian like you - dandy warhols
little boy lost - john vanderslice
duke of earl - gene chandler
banned from the end of the world- sleater kinney
jon benjamin and david cross - invite them up
pretty good. sleater kinney is one of my favorite bands so i am glad they came up. glad some comedy came up too. if i were listening i would have skipped john vanderslice and gene chandler. mostly it represents the kind of music i like in general. the only thing it's leaving out is all the punk i listen to especially the east coast bands. most of that stuff i bought before i had a computer and i never loaded anything on here unless i needed to copy it. better than i thought though.
and five more
A good flying bird - guided by voices
strings - Asobi Seksu
the father to a sister of thought - pavement
the funky 16 corners - the highlighters band
passing complexion - big black
if i were listening i would have skipped asobi seksu and guided by voices, but i would have listened to everything else.
i give them both 6.8

Green Day: In the Library
Liz Phair: Supernova
Third Eye Blind (Live): Good for you
Jenny Owen Youngs: Fuck Was I
Miles Davis: Nerfetti
The 1st, 4th, and 5th are more like me. But I shall continue with 5 more...
Thomas Newman: Foreign Contaminant (from the Wall-E Soundtrack)
Harry Connick Jr.: Way Down Yonder in New Orleans
The Ramones: I Just Want Something to Do
Maroon 5: Harder to Breathe
Michael Giacchino: Win One for the Reaper (Lost Soundtrack)
Yep the next 5 were much more me. The Irony of the Maroon 5 song coming up (I rarely listen to him) but have been having difficulty with my breathing lately. Heh.

Sun is Shining-Bob Marley and the Wailers
Believe Me Natalie-The Killers
America-Tracy Chapman
Sexy M.F. (mother fucker)-Prince
Well. I'm not sure how much these songs represent me or even the music I like. I love these artists and the Prince song-I'm glad that one made it haha. Also Emily-Devotvchka-amazing!

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person.-Audrey Hepburn

1) Viva Las Vegas -- Dead Kennedys
2) The Ways of a Woman in Love -- Johnny Cash
3) The Trial -- Pink Floyd
4) Flyin' High (In the Friendly Sky) -- Marvin Gaye
5) Everlong -- Foo Fighters
From my I-Tunes library.
None of my favorite bands/artists are represented...
I'd give it 4. Everlong is my favorite Foo song. I definitely love the variety of musical styles.

new iphone and it's barely got anything on it, so this list will probably be boring.
1)Wilco - Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway
I knew that there would be at least one Wilco... will be surprised if there aren't two. I decided not to treat this phone like my old iPod, cramming entire discographies on, but Wilco gets special treatment.
Obvious, but whatever, great band.
2)David Bowie - Life On Mars? (Live 1/10/72, Boston)
This is one of the few songs I listened to non-stop as a youngster and am not sick of. Remember when Bush dropped lyrics from this into Everything Zen? dorks.
3)Radiohead - pulk/pull Revolving Doors
Radiohead is the other wilco on this. This is certainly not the first song I would have picked.
4)David Bowie - Fill Your Heart
I guess I put more Bowie on here than I thought. Bowie on Tiny. Great album... decent song.
5)Electric Light Orchestra - Little Town Flirt
Two covers in a row. I like this one, but don't listen to it very often since it doesn't really fit on Discovery (and isn't really on it).
I would give this list about a 5. I like all these songs, but don't play them very often anymore. I should do another pass once I load some more music on here.

The Red Lagoon - Devendra Banhart
Clowny Clown Clown - Crispin Hellion Glover
Pussy Cat Dues - Charles Mingus
I Am a Machine - Meat Puppets
Outdoor Miner - Flying Saucer Attack
My last gander at this produced a 2. This is more like a 7. They may not be a spot-on capsule of my musical preferences, but I really like all the tracks.
(I'm using my iTunes, since I don't have an iPod).

The Yummy Fur - "Shoot The Ridiculant (peel session 22 feb 98)"
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - "St. Huck (peel session 28 mar 84)"
Bob Dylan - "John Wesley Harding"
Magnolia Electric Co - "O! Grace"
Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey - "Awa Ewe Iwoyi"
I'd give it a 6 or 7 or so. love the yummy fur and bad seeds tracks when they come up (odd that they're both peel sessions too!). Love that dylan song too, but the other two songs are ok, just not favorites or anything. More unknown than anything else.
"You Must Be a Witch" by The Lollipop Shoppe (aka The Weeds) was up right after -- that classic would have pushed this up to an 8.

Flogging Molly - Swagger
Thievery Corporation - The Mirror Conspiracy
The Polyphonic Spree - A Long Day Continues / We Sound Amazed
Enon - Candy
Led Zeppelin - For Your Life
Not bad. I'll give this a 5. A lot of good memories to most of this stuff - I listened to Flogging Molly and The Polyphonic Spree relentlessly while I was in college. Always good memories to any Zeppelin song (oh, high school...)
Though there are lots of good memories, it doesn't really represent me, though... But a great song list, fo' sho'.

Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.
Thanks for bumping... an excuse to listen to five random songs:
1) Broken Social Scene: "Pitter Patter Goes My Heart": Interesting pick because I just got my wristbands for tomorrow's Haunted Abandoned Power Plant party featuring BSS. Great live show those guys. This song is nice, but doesn't really work as a stand-alone.
2) T- Rex: "My Little Baby": Been on a T-Rex kick in the past few months. This song is as enjoyable, but not a stand-out to me.
3) The Knife: "Heartbeats": Really the only reason I listen to this band. What a great song. Sounds like what I always want a Eurythmics song to sound like (instead of what Eurythmics actually end up sounding like). So fun. The Jose Gonzales cover is also great for different reasons entirely.
4) Journey: "Open Arms": Hard to genuinely enjoy Journey in the current ironic climate we're living under, but I really do love some of their hits. Unfortunately, they can't even fill a "greatest hits" album without including a bunch of crappy songs. This one is really at the edge of the good stuff.
5) Wilco: "Handshake Drugs" : obvious pick... great song... there's something wrong with this file though... it stops and then cuts to the end of a live version. strange.
