Howdy doody time, indeed.
I've had the opportunity to check out the Maestro exactly twice now, and it's been a fantastic riot both times. I even got to hang out with the gang afterwards last time. So neener neener.
I'm in the current batch of Level 1 with Andy Crouch, and might I say, it's a downright dandy way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The other attendees are excellent at the games and make for a damn good time. I give us all gold stars for playing nicely.
"Now, DJ, why'd you get into this improv thing?" you're probably asking me through your interwebs. Mighty thoughtful of you. I'm breaking into the film scene, currently as a sound designer, and while I find it fun, it's not the only thing I want to do. I want to learn lighting, set design, make-up effects, I want to write, direct, and act - which is why I'm here. A little fishie once told me that checkin' out the local improv scene is a pretty good way to get one's toesies wet before launching a cannonball off the diving board.
My only real inhibition at this point is that I work nights at a recording studio, so that makes it darn near unpossible to get out and do things on weeknights. Weekends, though, are an entirely different yarn - made for gettin' out and doin' stuff!
I'm here. Y'all can begin the party now.
