If I'm going to be really honest about it, this is one of the main reasons I've never moved to Chicago, though I've been tempted many times: I'm a weather wuss.
Nothing like subzero wind chill blowing off Lake Michigan into your face for five blocks after riding on a urine-scented train to really test your commitment to the craft.

I love Chicago! (along with L.A., San Fran, NYC, & now, Seattle). Big cities are BIG in most ways - best food/culture/arts money can buy, lots of cultural and racial diversity... but there are also high costs, high crime, & lots of cultural/class-segregation). Most "love it, or leave it." Some leave it and visit often.

And remember, tho Randy Travis sings...
That's right, your not from Texas
That's right, your not from Texas
That's right, your not from Texas
But Texas loves you anyway.
... I think living in Texas is a "conditional" love story.

So, which do you prefer, living as a....
"Medium-sized fish in a small pond with some other medium-sized fish?" -or-
"Medium-sized fish in a big pond with lots of other fish of different sizes, shapes, and colors?"

I'm allergic to fish. That's why I'll never make it in the big city.

You improvise every day.
Why not get good at it?
