CHICAGO COMEDY LEGENDS TJ & DAVE ATTENDING SXSW FOR LIVE PERFORMANCES AND DOCUMENTARY WORLD PREMIERE
Critically-acclaimed Duo has been called brilliant, heartbreaking, mind-blowing, inspiring!
In celebration of their new documentary, Trust Us, This Is All Made Up, which is having its world premiere at SXSW, the improv duo, TJ & DAVE, will
perform at the Spider House for two nights only during SXSW. For six years
now, TJ & DAVE¹s performances of entirely improvised, character-driven, always hilarious and wholly original one-hour plays have mesmerized audiences worldwide. They create a showcase for elaborately imagined characters whose relationships reveal the wildly funny quirks of human nature. Their best work could be mistaken for scripted theater, except that scripted theater isn't usually this funny.
The duo rose up through the prestigious Second City (alongside such luminaries as Bob Odenkirk and Chris Farley) with an arm¹s length of individual credits. Dave has appeared prominently in the Strangers With
Candy movie, I Want Someone To Eat Cheese With, and Groundhog Day while Tj has appeared in Stranger Than Fiction, The Ice Harvest and has been the national face of Sonic Drive-In via their television and internet campaigns.
TJ & DAVE have been called by The New York Times "an impressive feat of
mental athletics, but the results are also observant, complex and frequently
enormously funny." and Time Out NY found their shows "BRILLIANT,
HEARTBREAKING, MIND-BLOWING, INSPIRING! The best 50 minutes of improv comedy that we¹ve ever seen."
Opening for them both nights will be The Frank Mills who have managed to win pretty much every improv award they've been eligible for. With a collective resumé including stints performing and directing at The Second City, Chicago's Annoyance Theater and Improv Olympic, and Boom! Chicago (located, confusingly, in Amsterdam), the hyper-realistic aesthetic of The Frank Mills is improv for people who think they don't like improv.
Performances will be taking place on Sunday, March 15th and Monday, March
16th at Spider House Events Center. 2908 Fruth St. (29th and Guadalupe).
Shows will start at 8pm with doors opening at 7:30. Tickets are $10.

I used to see TJ & Dave whenever I could when they came to New York.
Hands down my favourite improvisers to watch. No question.
These guys get respect from all the other top improvisers, no matter which improv "camp" they happen to be in. For example, I've heard the artistic director of the UCB raving about their work.
If you do improv and live in Austin take advantage of this rare opportunity to see their magic at work.

You can buy tickets to SxSW movies. They just give preference to badge holders. I don't think the TJ&Dave movie will be as hugely popular with non-improvisers.kristin wrote:Do you happen to know how an average non-SXSW go-er can get in to see this?Asaf wrote:And just you guys know, they will be attending the March 17th screening of their documentary and answering questions afterwards.
