John Holdren, who was the head of my graduate department at Berkeley, and who I know quite well, is going to be appointed as the head of the Office of Science and Technology. He's a very capable and well-respected scientist, focusing on renewable energy, mainly nuclear fusion. Exciting.
Also, Chu as head of Department of Energy. I never met him but worked briefly for Lawrence Berkeley Labs, which he now heads, and know a lot of people who work there. Good place.
If allowed to do their thing, both of these men could definitely shift the direction of our energy sources. Wow, I am getting even more hopeful.
(It's scary.)
