Same Year's Eve
So Austin Improv is getting bigger every year.
So you don't know everybody's name anymore.
This December 30 it's time to rage against the blinding of the light and bump up against some new and old faces in an heroic attempt to keep this improv town feeling like one big happy family and community.
The Hideout and the AIC are hosting our Austin's annual Same Year's Eve Show and Party the night before New Year's Eve, and your presence is demanded.
We don't care if there are more than 100 improvisers and a bazillion troupes; we're making a show happen at 8pm with everyone in it. And after that we'll party until the wee hours of the morning. This thing has been a blast every year, so come out and celebrate all that is bad ass about improv in Austin, Texas.
RSVP to the Evite HERE.

Wahoo! This is my favorite show/party of every year! Wild raucous fun, just like any show/party in TEXAS should be. Where are my pistolas??
2007's event was tasty!
1 show - Totally awesome and fun
1 house - Packed with audience
3 sets - Improv Games, Scenes, and an Improvised musical
1 Smattering of out of town guests & AIC alumni
3 cast lists - drawn from a hat
1 after-party - with imps and friends
2 tables of treats
1 tasty beer keg - provided "from, by & for" the AIC
Mixed with music (iPods, etc) and wild dancing
And all topped off at Midnight with the "Same Years Eve" toast to Austin Improv
NOT TO BE MISSED!

Since this is an AIC fundraiser (and one of the main fundraisers for the year) I highly reccommend that we do two shows and 8:00 and a 10:00. This will double our gate and since we have so many people who will want to perform it will create more space on stage. I know this is supposed to be a fun thing.

That cuts into the party time and you run a higher risk of folks from the 8pm show leaving before the partying begins. This show is much more about community and playing in a fun show with folks you don't normally play with. Then you get to hang out with improviser and audience member alike after the show. It's never been about the money...for me at least.

The alternative is to charge, say, $15 or $20, instead of the usual $10

Someone (I think it was Jessica) told me this weekend that music might be appropriate here. I think I played this last year, too.
I'll be in CO for Xmas but think I will be back in time for this. If so, I'll be there - do y'all want me to bring my gear?
