I can't wait for Thursday night!

Hey WORLD....

OMG!!!! This show was AWESOME!!! In fact I would go so far as to say it was a PERFECT show tonight! These guys really know their stuff... it was an amazing study of the genre -- Screwball Comedy.

And I KNOW Screwball Comedies -- they are one of my top 2 favorite types of movies and I own a variety of landmark films in the genre -- that I watch over and over again. P-graph hit ALL the touchstones for, actually, a sub-genre of the Screwball -- Comedy of Remarriage. It was quite amazing! I laughed a LOT -- Jon Bolden can testify, he was sitting next to me. Lots of fast banter and a BIG cast of characters... especially with only 4 actors:

Deloris: Val
Professor Hank: Kareem
Enthusiastic Student: Kaci
Dumb Student: Roy
T___, Ditzy Secretary: Kaci
Jim Farmdale, Oil Barron: Roy
Mama Farmdale: Kaci
Coachman/Driver: Kareem
Mother: Kaci
Father: Roy
etc...

They played with theme, layered jokes, miss-matched couples, comedy of errors, archetypes -- like powerful women, lovable smart asses, inept saviors, oil barons, wise country folk, the goofy upper-class -- laughable intrigue, mis-managed subterfuge, slapstick, innuendo... and so much more.

Next week is the last one before these lovable folks move on to their next venture. GO SEE THIS SHOW before its too late and GONE. I'm so sorry there weren't several cameras recording this show. I wish I'd had my sketchbook to capture some of their scenes.

Again, it was pretty much PERFECT.

:-)

Thanks Sara!
You definitely helped our research by loaning us some of your videos, and I'm so happy we had such an informed viewer in the audience last night.
I mean, I always believe our more genre-based formats can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of what they know or do not know, but it's great to have people "in" on the know. :)

If I could nominate an entire show for the Best Show Line of 2008, it would be tonight's PGraph show.

Holy shit, my sides literally hurt from laughing so hard. Pure, insane genius comedy.
