Alex Nixon

Post by Frank »

I heard yesterday that we lost a member of our community to suicide. I was told that he took his life on thursday night.

I didn't know Alex well, only met him a few times. Was he married? Does he have family, a partner? Is the community sending a card or a gift to someone? Can I help?

I don't know any details about any services for Alex but I believe that Terrill will know and spread the word to the rest of us.

I performed with Alex many times in Hoover's Blanket. He also directed one of the first Maestros that I came to see and I was inspired by his comfort in front of an audience. I always appreciated his dark sense of humor as well as his dark fashion sense. He also had one of the more distinguishable laughs in the community and I could always tell when he was in the audience at one of my shows. He was kind, intelligent, quick on his feet and funny as hell.

You'll be greatly missed Mr. Nixon. :(

I met him in Shana's improvised singing class. I am still amazed by some of the awesome songs he came up with. Very smart and very clever. He will surely be missed.

Frank has requested that follow-up be posted to this thread. I'll bump them over manually if I see any.

Is there any way that we can bump all of it to the AIC local thread? This feels to me like its really a matter of community loss.
