Sometimes it's a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence.

I'll leave the political / biographical / pop culture use discussion to others. I would consider the photo to be justly iconic. It is supposedly the most reproduced photo ever...

Che: Kind of a dick.

When I see someone with a Che poster I tend to assume they mainly just know about the early, romantic period of Che's life, where he cruised around Latin America supporting socialist political causes, and aren't really aware of the later period of his life, and what he did with actual power once he had it. Like after Castro felt threatened by Che's popularity and sent him away to create revolutions where there weren't any. Che went to Bolivia and tried to start a war there. His last crusade in Bolivia was met with a complete lack of enthusiasm by the Bolivian peasants. Che ended up embittered at their lack of support, cursing them as cowards, and his appeals to Castro and the Soviets for reinforcements fell on deaf ears. The Bolivians hunted him down like an outlaw, and in the end, the only people who wanted him alive was the CIA (who saw him as an intel prize). Ultimately Che's greatest contributiuon was to the radical chic of berets. Castro really should have copied Che's style, those olive green caps that look like a French Kepi did nothing for him.
