Puppet Improv class coming to Austin

Post by Asaf »

My friends Josh and Tamra will be swinging through town. They do the most amazing puppet improv show AND they are teaching a class as well. It is a wonderful skill to learn.

The Josh and Tamra Puppet Improv Workshop
Long-Form Improv, Character Development, and Puppet Manipulation
Instructors: Josh Cohen & Tamra Malaga

Tuesday, September 9th
7-10pm

Cost: $35

During the workshop students will learn how to develop characters using the art of long-form improvisation. In the second half, students will apply their new characters using puppetry. Students will learn proper stage puppetry techniques, and how to perform their puppet in front of a live audience, using the famous “Henson Muppetâ€

People have been signing up, but I want more bodies in the class for Josh and Tamra's sake.

So if you are interested, let me know.

If you think puppets are dumb, all I can tell you is that I thought the same thing until I saw their show at DSI . . . at which point I really wished I'd taken their workshop. And now I can.

Do we need to bring our own puppets? I see they are giving us a sock puppet.

I suppose you can bring a puppet if you have one. And yes they will be providing you with simple puppets.
