TJ and Dave movie

Post by the_orf »

You must be a member of the Austin Film Society in order to attend this screening, but if any of you improvisors are members and want to see a documentary about the fantastic improvisational tandem TJ & Dave, check this out.

Note: It's "Documentary-in Progress" meaning that this is not the final cut; that the audience members will be asked to fill out a questionaire to assist the filmmaker in finishing his project; and that there will be a Q&A with the filmmaker afterwards to address specifics, again to help the filmmaker decide what parts of his film work and what doesn't.

Docs-in-Progress: TRUST US, THIS IS ALL MADE UP

WHEN: Mon Sep 15, 7 PM
WHERE: Austin Studios Screening Room (1901 E. 51st St)
COST: FREE. Attendance is limited to AFS Filmmaker-level members and above.
INFO: austinfilm.org/film/trust_us_this_is_all_made_up

Tj Jagodowksi and Dave Pasquesi are described by Time Out Chicago as "two of the world's finest practitioners of the art of long-form improv." This film features an unforgettable live performance from the duo and explores the folds of trust and faith that underlie their relationship. Post-screening discussion moderated by Lisa McWilliams.

I became a member of Austin Film Society (it was only $30) just so I can see this documentary.

AFS membership has many other nice benefits, too. They have free screenings of original films from around the world; you can get dicounted movie tickets at some theaters; and the parties are fun too.

The listing for the show says "Attendance is limited to AFS Filmmaker-level members and above." which is the $50 level. Were you able to successfully register for it after only signing up for the $30 level?

Yes, I was. I have a confirmation. Though I did it by phone.

I've been to these docs-in-progress screenings. There's room for about 30 people. I know you guys want to see it, but if we all show up to it, we'll crowd out the filmmakers who are trying to give each other peer review on the movie.

Besides, what you're watching is a rough cut. That's like... spoilers for the real movie.

Maybe we can invite the filmmakers to show a rough cut screening for improvisers at ColdTowne or the Hideout?

Excellent point, Boyko.

I contacted the director of the film and he said he woud LOVE to set up a separate screening for the AIC. So I'm trying to get that set up. Details to follow in another post.
