Yeah, Palin gets me every time.
Even his BBC travel shows are entertaining and humorous.

What? Is there another Palin worth talking about?

There's also a certain Sarah Palin from Alaska, who was just picked as McCain's running mate.

Interestingly enough, both the democrats and republicans are having the same reaction to this: "Hahahaha! (Opposing party) is so screwed!"

So, for those keeping count, this year's election is between a somewhat inexperience non-WASP and strawman liberal vs. a strawman conservative and a somewhat inexperience non-male.

Yep. Regardless of who wins, we all know this'll end very well!...

Wow.

Maybe it's not cool to just call this out, but it feels like he's saying "Let's just get a woman on the ticket because clearly women who'd been supporting Hillary will just vote for another woman, any other woman." ...since his campaign has vocally been trying to lure Hillary supporters over there.. Can I be insulted by his choice?

...and there goes his "lack of experience" arguement. I'm even more excited to follow the RNC now!

What Harriet Meiers wasn't available? Perhaps a commisioner of the International Arabian Horse Association, then?

Hmm...I'll have to read up on her. One thing I can guess already...I bet she vacations in exotic locations like Alaska!

Tina Fey will play her in the movie of how the McCain was run by a cranky old lunatic with impulse control issues.

And oh, by the way?

I can only hope that people will recognize this. That is how I took it. I am all for having a woman in any office, but this one puzzles me. I want my VP to have some shred of credibility and experience in government. The only notable thing Palin brings is an abuse of power controversy where she pressured the Public Safety Commissioner to fire an Alaskan State Trooper who had been married at one point to Palin's sister. Palin fired the Public Safety Commissioner because he refused to fire the Trooper...allegedly. I say allegedly because this is CURRENTLY under investigation. SCANDAL ON THE FROZEN TUNDRA!!!

To me this seems desperate on McCain's behalf. If he wanted to select a woman, why not choose one that brings more to the table. After all, if McCain is elected, we are just a heartbeat away from having Palin running our country. That is unbelieveable scary. The GOP must be shitting themselves.

Personally, I am insulted that McCain thought this would slide.

Now wait a minute! As to your latter premise, good sir, I must firmly object!

I must put it to you that there has never been a single quantifiable instance where abject Tolkienism has ended with a negative resultant. I sincerely doubt you can offer anything as example with any credability or merit. What, are you going to suggest THE LOVESONG OF FUCKING BEREN?!? Sorry, SIR, but that was in iambic tentrameter, AND IT WAS THE MODEL FOR FUCKING ARAGON.

ARAGON, MR. SIMONE!

Therefore, unless you qualify that statement, I will have no alternative available to me... I will be forced by conscience to cast my eyes grudgingly downward whenever you pass me by. You broke my heart, Arthur.

...

Oh, and I look forward to tonight. Thanks!

Knocking Palin seems too easy. Alaska is a state of 700,000 people. In terms of population, she's been governor of Austin and Mayor of Eeyore's Birthday Party.
