pssst want a workshop?

Post by Floyd VanBuskirk »

Hey, I'm going to be in town for a while. I'm coming in for the OOB and will be staying until at least September 6th. I have tentatively reserved a classroom at The Hideout to do a couple of workshops from 7p to 10p on September 2nd & 3rd. The first was to be an Improv Intro class for some of the actors with my Austin agents at TAG and anyone else that might be interested. The second would be on STATUS. I've observed and used the principles of Status I learned from Keith Johnstone in improv, acting and day to day life for more than 20 years now. It is still one of the most useful tools I've ever acquired. Would there be any interest in either of these workshops. If so let me know. I know that this is falling right after the OOB so there may be an improv saturation point to contend with. I believe that Andy posted my bio around here somewhere if you don't know who I am and are thinking "Why would I want to take a workshop from this joker?" If anyone is interested please let me know ASAP.

You can reach me here on the forum or contact me at [/img]floydvb@mac.com

Thanks

Floyd's a pro. It's a rare treat to have someone of his caliber swinging through town. I'd be all over the Status workshop if I didn't have a rehearsal at the same time.

Seconded! Floyd is an improv veteran who has been there from pretty much the beginning. Plus, he's been on TV.

You improvise every day.
Why not get good at it?

Thanks for saying nice things about me you guys. Shana is right I was actually teaching improv when the great turtle crawled out of the ocean and gave birth to the world. I taught Yes And to Trilobites to kick start the evolution of the land walkers and narrative exercises Neanderthal Cave Painters, which also gave birth to the Word at a Time story and Monosyllabic Scene Study. I keep leaving that stuff out of my Bio.

Did someone ask about Status? The STATUS class is scheduled for Wednesday the 3rd but I am currently polling the students to see if they would be able to switch it to Thursday as I have had a couple of people who were interested but couldn't do Wednesday. I'm still waiting to hear from about half of them. If I had enough people who were interested I could just add a Thursday class but I'd need to hear pretty quick. So there ya go. If anyone is interested in the Status Workshop let me know ASAP. I could also just do a special class for AIC folks on whatever you like if there is enough interest. At any rate I am heading out your way this Thursday at the latest so get in touch if ya wanna do sumthin'.
