well hung jury clocked a continuous 27 hour show on the mainstage of the hideout in august of 2000 before it was even officially open. we had 12 cast members and the goal was to do the ultimate narrative longform, one story for 27 hours. the story held up and was epic for about 3 hours, then it verged off and only in the last couple hours did it come back around to reference the night before.
a couple years later a group in bowling green, KY, Sunshine Express, did a 28 hour show after coming to the first out of bounds just as a friendly jab at our record. it wasn't a continuous narrative (not that ours was necessarily) so it wasn't recognized by the Central Texas Board of Records Held by whj Committee.

i could go on for hours about that show. 27 actually. it changed my life for sure and it changed the way i improvised. it changed the way ben sterling laughed. i showed my penis to a crowd of about 2 people at around 7 am. and we debated for about 40 minutes whether or not us debating whehter what we were doing was theatre or not around 4 am. the downstairs was packed with people from 8 til about 10 on friday night, then filled up again on saturday from around 7 to 11.

i could go on for hours about that show. we didn't pay any rent for that. it was part of our deal with sean since we volunteered every sunday for several montsh to help with the demo and construction of the hideout. he agreed to give us a weekend a month for a whole year rent free.

ha ha. i could go on for hours about that show. ace was fat then.

Does that show exist on tape anywhere? It'd be a valuable addition to some sort of super archive.

no. it's not on tape. we didnt have the manpower to switch out 27 tapes. we used the camera instead for a closed circuit sytem so people could watch from backstage where we had sleeping bags and snacks set up, so they could genuinely chill without having to worry about audience seeing them.

holy shit. thank you, archive.org

click on reviews for our article in the statesman about the marathon. it ended up being a great publicity stunt that garnered a lot of attention from the local press.
