new kid (who will be back) on the block

Post by madi »

hello everybody!

new improviser here, who lived in austin this summer and took a class from shana with merlinworks (and loved it!) and then p-graph's creating meaningful moments class (and loved it times two!)

i am moving back to san antonio for my last year in college, but right after i finish i will be back to a,tx for more improv.

i didn't get to hang out much this summer (jobs, classes, and student whatnot), but that won't be the case next time around.

hummm, i guess i should probably have waited to introduce myself until a time when i was actually going to be here, but i feel like i have already gotten to meet so many wicked awesome people, i felt compelled to explain my absence!

anywho, hopefully i can make it in to austin a several times in the coming months to satisfy my improv. cravings, but in any case...

does anybody know any improv groups in san antonio that i could hang with?

thanks, and i have had a wonderful time getting to know this community. you guys are so welcoming, loving, and straight fun to play with.

that is all.

I think it's awesome to introduce yourself so far ahead of time. It's a sweet dramatic device that creates an interesting sense of anticipation.

According to their website, the Oxymorons perform every Tuesday night.

You probably want to call and confirm that this is up to date. 210-229-1420

And National Comedy Theatre (previously a ComedySportz franchise) claims to perform every Monday night.

Hmm. This is suspicious. They have the same phone number. 210-229-1420. Aha. It's the venue -- Rivercenter Comedy Club.

I'm actually managing the NCT (former ComedySportz) club in San Antonio. We're running weekly shows, every Friday night at 9:30pm, at the Overtime Theater. It's near I-10 and West on the west (duh) side of SA.

We're growing the troupe now, so we're always glad to have talented improvisers stop by and check us out, and join the group if they're interested.

Our new website is http://ncttx.com/

I'll be glad to answer any other questions about NCT-SA (though I don't know much about the San Antonio improv scene at large, having just moved to town in April).
