Arthur Simone = Theater Zealot

Post by arthursimone »

I, Arthur Simone, do solemnly swear that I am available for coaching.

I studied long-form at Improv Olympic in Chicago, then moved back to New Orleans where Comedy Sportz honed some short-form chops. I'm an ensemble member and co-founder of ColdTowne Theater, where I've taught all levels of improv, a few of sketch, and am currently coaching the latest student troupe, Unfurled. I've done a zillion improv festivals and was even invited to introduce some sullen performance art students at UT to long-form and the concept of smiling.

Prior to that, I graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in theater, acted myself silly, directed contemporary and classical drama, contact improvisation, modern dance, sketch, film, commercial acting, my god acting has dominated my life!!!! Brecht! Artaud! Grotowski! Shakespeare! Ionesco! Chekhov (both Anton and Michael)! Buchner! Meyerhold! Marinetti! Kane! Ohchristmakeitstop!!

At any rate, I'm available.

I'm a big believer in the development of:
-group mind
-character
-body & voice
-sticking to your initiation
-speaking in your own voice
-naughty vs nice improv

I also do a show with my dog, and if you're nice you can do a scene with him too.

I hate all the things you believe in.

And I still think you're a sweet coach.

But I want to be coached by your dog.
