Tuesday Night Jam - 06/24/08

Post by Wesley »

Q: When is this "Tuesday Night Jam" you speak so much of?
A: Tuesday Night! More specifically, form 7:00 to 10:00.

Q: Where is this "Tuesday Night Jam"?
A: The Hideout Theater, upstairs (617 Congress Ave.)

Q: How much does it cost?
A: It's free!

Q: Will there be brownies?
A: I hope so. I always mean to leave early enough to stop and buy some, but I never have enough time.

Q: Do I need previous improv experience?
A: It helps, but it is not necessary at all. We usually have at least one person there with no experience whatsoever and several in introductory classes. We will make it fun and valuable to you if you've been improvising for just 90 seconds, or more than 90 years!

Q: What will the jam be working on this week?
A: Bringing it back to the basics, starting scenes in action, risk-taking, lying believably on stage, not bailing on a scene, being real, and maybe some edit work. Bring or post any other ideads or specific games you want to work on.

Q: Any movie recommendations?
A: I just saw Military Intelligence and You! and it was really, pretty funny. You should rent it.

Hi Wes...

Any news about the AC situation? Otherwise we could make it the beachwear jam, maybe...

Cheers,
Andreas

The AC is *supposed* to be fixed Wednesday. Which means, even if things go as planned this week, it will not be ready for the jam.

You all do know that you can fire that one company and hire someone else, right?

If it is too hot, we'll make it work, or steal the downstairs if it is available. Or bring a fan.

Everyone bring a fan to the jam!

Suffer for your craft, people! This is where the sweat in "blood, sweat, and tears" comes from. This is what's known as "paying one's dues." Also, I think it nets you 2 points on some "how improv are you" meme test.

Yes, that has occurred to us. That is why we fired that one company and have hired another. Who is scheduled to install the AC on Wednesday. I have learned from experience not to hold my breath too long when a repairman tells me that a job will be done on a certain date.

Thanks to all who came out. We had about 16 people, include three new people who thought they were coming to watch a show, but jumped in and played whole-heartedly for two hours.

I brought fans and brownies and all-in-all it wasn't that bad upstairs.

We had a lot of fun and worked on lying, commitment, spacework, and exercises to break your brain. We also had several really fun games of Actor's Nightmare.

Plus, I observed a lot of behaviors and instincts to work on in future jams. Look forward to several highly-focused, skill based jams in July!

Thanks for the fun!

I came to the Jam at about nine, and it was a lot of fun. That was the first one I've been to in a while. Very few familiar faces and a lot more I've never seen before. Plus, I very briefly got to meet the Australian guys. A lot of young people there too. I'm quite impressed with how some of them handled themselves on stage too. I think I'll make it a regular thing to drop in on the Jam after the Start Trekkin' workshop for the next few weeks.

Any of you from the Jam who happen to drop by here, feel free to speak up.

Thank you, Lindsey!

There were enough regulars at the jam tonight to make the classroom portion work, and it was nice of Justin to join us for the "show"!

The new A/C was quite welcomed, too.
