Oh, yeah - intelius has been around for a while. It takes a real effort to keep your footprint small. They only way I've confused 'em is by going on the road for years at a time and often having no permanent address. I've been in Austin for coming on 4 years now, though, so I suppose it's only a matter of time...
It's nearly impossible now to stay low or start over. You'd have to not have a lease, a bank account, a driver's license or a passport - you'd have to not pay taxes or register to vote.
If you're willing to go all the way, assume a completely new identity and leave everything and everyone you know behind - I guess it can be done. I saw some books claiming to show you how to do this at B&N recently. I don't know too many people willing or desperate enough to try this, though.
