There is a large gay community in Austin who needs to be exposed to improv.

Show me the large blank community, or the large Avant Garde community!

Although, I must say, I really like the blank show. Faceless.

Or something that changes every week. This show changes, like an amoeba, and it's comedic.

Call it the Comedic Amoeba!

bam!

what's that? you want me to make nerdy jokes about evolution. well ok.

transitions over transversions
the lamarck show: use it or lose it
darwin was right
ID: improv design
the drift show*
the cladogram show
the natural selection show
survival of the funniest (ps why isn't this the tagline for maestro?!)
the mutation show
2pq
kimura's neutral show
ohta's nearly neutral show
the fundamentalist christians won't like this show
GMI - genetically modified improv

time for me to stop. thanks for letting me get this out of my system.

*only works if the effective population size is sufficiently low for drift to overcome selection. obviously.

Jermy, you rock.

I told Wes two weeks ago this show should have an evolution theme.

I suggested "Darwin's Happy Hour" and we decided that would at least be an excellent name for a troupe someday.

I sent the following description to Erika May for forwarding to the Chronicle:

Name:
The Blank Show

Time:
Saturdays 11:30

Short description:
Austin improvisers use the time each week as a blank slate to redefine their craft.

Long description:
Already an organic, creative art form, The Blank Show provides local improv artists an opportunity to take their craft one step farther. The Blank Show is an experimental time slot that will play host to any and all notions of live stage entertainment. One week, performers may attempt to put on the crudest show imaginable. The next, they may take comedy out of the improv equation and attempt an improvised Shakespearean tragedy. The next, they may do an entire silent film set to live improvised music. Every week is a blank slate. So come watch some of Austin’s most creative (and often insane) minds push the boundaries of live, improvised entertainment.

If you have a show slot, start your planning (especially for those in June). Hopefully we'll get some play from the Chronicle listing, but you might also want to start your own word of mouth advertsing or flyering or whatever. Also, anyone hosting a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday show for the next two weeks, PLEASE plug the slot!
It is basically from scratch, so we need to build attendence!!
