Tuesday Night Jam - 06/10/08

Post by Wesley »

Don't forget to come and jam at the Hideout tonight! It runs from 7 to 10 and it is free (I do accept tips in the form of Lone Star Beer).

Tonight we'll continue working on game theory and expand what we did last week. We'll learn from the format of that jam, too, and try structuring things a little differently.

Anything in particular you want to play/work on?

That was a hell of a thing. This thing's gotten bigger each of the past four weeks, but tonight was super sweet. While we never had more than 27, 28 on stage at a time, we did have some 36 people participate at some part at some time.

Madness.

The only problem was that it was approximately 148 degrees in the Hideout. I think several of the people that left early did so just because of the unbearable heat.

New jam promise - improve your improv AND sweat off half a pound an hour!

Thanks for taking care of the jam tonight, Wes.

And, to anyone who runs the jam, please remember to pimp the Hideout classes. There should be a sign on the wall that says when they start. The next level 1 starts on July 21st!

Andy's having an AC guy come out this week to figure out what the deal is. Poor thing is limping along on its last flux capacitor...

No problem. I've been back weekly for 4 or 5 weeks now and I'm enjoying it. Hopefully I'll make it a regular thing again.

Oh, I should also add that we had at least 5 people with no improv experience whatsoever. Most were drug in by fellow jammers from the past few weeks, but 1 found us after going to some woman's camp weekend (?) and being told she needed to come out of her shell more. Apparently they found a free improv class for her to help her achieve that self-improvement goal. I wish I'd found out more about it. Hopefully she'll be back. It'd be an interesting group (and others like it) to send marketing information to for future referrals.

Also, the last 3 have run nearly 3-and-a-half hours we're having so much fun. Here's to that kind of energy! There are a lot of good, anxious, burgeoning talents out there that are taking advantage of these jams and I love seeing it. A lot of them really want it.

And don't worry, classes at the Hideout, ColdTowne, State, and Velveeta/Esther's were pitched each and every week. As were shows on Friday and Saturday nights at the Hideout and Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at ColdTowne. As was the website and forums.

To whom it may concern at The Hideout: the city of Austin has a rebate program for new A/C units for their commercial customers. See:
http://www.austinenergy.com/Energy%20Ef ... ansion.htm

Several years ago, I signed up for the city's free energy assessment for my home, added ceiling insulation and replaced my A/C with the help of their rebate program. My electric bill was CUT IN HALF. No kidding. The new unit paid for itself (my portion of the expense) in 3-4 years.

People think, if it ain't broke (or even if it is) they'll keep the old unit limping along as long as possible. They don't realize how much money is leaching out of their pocket because of that decision! A/C technology has changed dramatically in the past few years. Get with the program, Hideout!
