Fireteam Reloaded

Post by beardedlamb »

The first commercial writing I've ever done has gone through all stages of production and is up online. It will end up being a 6 part series for an internet videogame called Fireteam Reloaded. The ads feature what is basically a modified Backpack Picnic cast in the fantasy world of The Sunny Face Mental Institute.
They turned out pretty funny considering they are blatant advertisements.

Can't speak for the quality of the game, but the ads are good. The first one made me feel dirty.

Wow. You've got to love those keyboard jockeys posting comments over at GameTrailers.com.

Gamers appear to be a lot of angry folk.

Yes. There's less horny talk than I thought there'd be though. Lots of comments about Shannon's head getting licked (which I didn't notice until they mentioned it) and a few other comments about physical attributes of people in the commercials.

I read a comment that said, "nerd girl has a nice ass"
I'm conflicted on how to feel about that, so I'm just going to think it's amusing and weird.

I just took a stroll through the forums. You would be angry, too if you chose to attempt to communicate with some of these people: http://forums.gametrailers.com/showthread.php?t=420407

I think it's just pent-up nerd rage. These are people who like to watch 30 second trailers and get themselves worked up into a ravenous frenzy about how awesome the next great unreleased video game is going to be. Then, most realize it can't quite live up to their ungodly high expectations as they complete it in a fraction of the time they spent writing about in their diaries. Rinse, wash, repeat.

I reserve the right to make these comments: my roommate last summer is one of these people.

The videos were great. As a filmmaker, I can't just watch a video; I look at production quality, editing, etc. And I must say, well done. Do you know what kind of camera was used for it?

For the uninitiated:

I've been dealing with those assholes for years. Hell, I am one. I wouldn't worry too much about what they think.

Also repeated here for more cursing and emphasis.

Take it as a multi-level compliment, especially about the nerd part and the source the comment comes from.

Isn't that what Ann's there for? (She'd probably hit me if I wasn't 1400 miles away).

Did you see this quote on the Tom Booker comments?

"the game might be crappy, but the agency they hired to make the commercials does a great job"
